My Ass Essay, Research Paper

v A Florentine philosopher, physicist, and inventor. This is a lot of work to do in one life time. Galileo Galilei did all that and even more. He is most commonly remembered for his condemnation by the Holy Office as a result of his attempting to prove the Copernican theory of the universe. Galileo was born on February 15, 1564, in Pisa, Italy. He died in Florence, Italy, on January 8, 1642. He first got investigated by th Congregation of the Holy Office on February 19, 1616. Galileo acted abrubtly and should have waited to prove his theory. Galileo was wrong in his belief that the sun was the center of the universe and did not move. As the scientists of today have proven the sun does move and it is not even the center of the galaxy let alone the universe. The sun is the center of the solar system and after the solar system comes many other solar systems. Which make up a galaxy and millions of galaxies make up the universe. The sun is a star, this is fact. And there are millions of stars in the universe. The sun is a relitively small star also. Therefor the sun of this solar system could not be the center of the universe. Galileo’s whole theory was wrong and therefor he should not have pushed this lie to the general public.

Galileo’s first condemnation came when his conduct in Rome became incredibly bold. He felt he had to convince anyone who would listen that his arguments supported “realist” Copernicanism. The Congregation of the Holy Office looked into this debate. A committee of eleven theologists’ opinion was that the proposition that the sun was the center of the universe and does not move was, “Philosophically foolish and absurd and formally heretical, in as much as it expressly contradicts the doctrines of Holy Scripture in many places, both according to their literal meaning and according to the common exposition and interpretation of the holy Fathers and learned theologians.” 1.
