People have been asking this question for centuries, and they have come up with a couple of different answers. I believe that a person is saved through faith and prayer. If you truly believe that god is your savor and you have the faith to trust in him and believe what the bible tells you then you should be saved.
In Isa. 61:10 It says, I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride aborneth herself with her jewels. Which basically means that because of his faith in the lord he was given salvation and righteousness. Throughout the bible you see the lord referred to as the lord of salvation or the god of salvation, or you see the term salvation is the lords. To me, this is good evidence that you get salvation through the lord.
Some other verses that support this are Philipians 1:19, Hebrew 5:9, and Hebrew 9:28. These verses talk about getting salvation through prayer, and about how we can be saved by following Jesus. Because Jesus died on the cross he bares the sins of all those who follow and obey him. Jesus died so that we could be saved and the most important thing he asks of us is for us to follow him and obey his word.
I believe that one of the most important things a person can do in their life is not only to follow god but to also act like a Christian. You can not be afraid to let people know your beliefs. I do not think that it is enough to just say you re a Christian you actually have to act like you are. It says in the bible that not everyone who claims there a Christian will get to heaven. In my opinion there are two reasons for this. One is that a lot of people only claim to be Christians but do not act like they believe in god. They re kind of living a double life. I think the other is that they don t believe with all their heart and soul that the lord exists. They may believe in him to some extent, but they go to church more for social purposes then for religious purposes or do not go at all.
God loves you and he wants you to love him. It says in the bible to spread his love and make disciples for him. He wants you to show love to others and let others know that he loves them and try to help them get on the path that their suppose to be on in their lives. He wants you to show love to other people the way he has shown love to you.
Basically I believe that if you are willing to follow Christ, and you believe in him with all your heart all soul, and you show others this then you will be saved. Show others that you love God through your actions here on earth. You have to come to know Christ on a spiritual level; once you do that and you come to love him you will be saved.
