Without the supernatural?s intervention in the Macbeths? lives, none of the events would have happened the way they did. The play couldn?t have progressed through Macbeth?s downfall and at the end led to his ultimate corruption because Macbeth would have stayed the ?worthy gentleman? (A .1, S. 2, L. 24) that he?s portrayed as being at the start of the play.
