“Keys to success in college”
Different people wish to attain kinds of success but in order to fulfill your first success, college is a very important step and part to start with. Besides you need to make the necessary scarifies to accomplish you goals, your motivation and studies are also very important because your studies is depend upon your motivation. A goal of this kind will determining the direction and degree of your motivation for itself and it can also make the different between success and failure.
Motivation can come from two sources, from inside of you and from outside of you. It can come from your hopes and expectations. It is from your desire to do something or to be someone, but not everyone is highly motivated. In education, the most obvious kind of outside motivation are grades. For many students, course grades are an immediate, short-rage motivation for study, which means they study for grades and it may not become a goal in themselves. It would be wrong to set grades as their only ambition.
Secondly, concentration are also important, to focus and pay attention on one thing is easy especially when you are interested. It is difficult to do when you are not interested. During education, you may have to study some subjects that do not interesting, but many people have found out interesting later and even made a career of the subject. It may be because of us who has no interest. To concentrate on a subject, first think of how and why the subject is important to your general education. Sometimes biology may not seem interesting to you but if we are curious about the function of our body, a little biology will be useful. These will extent and variety of our interests. Second, think of how the subject is related to other subjects. For example: physics and philosophy are closely connected in many ways, mathematics is useful in economics, psychology and sociology are reflected in literature. A subject that does not seem interesting in it may be very interesting in relation to other subjects. Third, interest is upon understanding. If we do not understand the rules of basketball game, we may not have much fun to watch it, but if we take time to learn the rules, we may find it is an exciting sport.
Furthermore, although you are interested in a subject and your are really trying to concentrate, but it could also interrupt by distraction. You cannot control over some distraction but the are some other ways to control. You may choose the place and time of study. In order to study efficiently, we need to have a place used for study. More wisely, set your timetable to plan your work and study. The kind of timetable will depend upon on your class schedule, study time and social activities. We should try to follow the rule of plan your work and work your plan.
There are some others important things you must do to become success in college during class such as taking notes, dealing with professors, good memory, preparation for exams etc… In the class, taking notes is important, it is better to sit near the front of the class to avoid distractions. Be a good listener focus on the main points of the lecture. Ask, if you do not understand. After the lecture, recall on a separate paper without looking at your notes; try to write as much as you can by your own words. It is also a good idea to highlight and outline to main idea of the chapter. Most of all just do not fall behind in your classwork, reading, and homework. If we fall behind one point of the information, the following will be not clear. We will lose whatever interests we may start with because of we do not understand.
There are some keys to make you have a better memory. Be interested, pay attention. Visualize; picture in your mind what you wish to remember. Relate and form between the new ideas and information that you already know. Repeat, although something was learned it will be easily be forgotten if not over learned. Be sure to repeat information in your own words. Find someone in your class that you can study and exchange notes with in case of absence because two heads are always better than one. Get to know your professor. Professors can give you advice and provide academic support. If you find that you are having same problems, you can check out with the academic department or the learning center to get some tutorial service.
Finally, we come to examination. An examination reflects how will you have understood the material. Do not expect to learn material during the last few days before an exam. During short, regularly periods of review, you can refresh your memory and bring yourself up to date. More important, you will see the subject as a larger unit of related information instead of a single hour of isolated material. Whether an exam is an objective or essay type, it is a good idea to look over the whole exam before beginning to write anything. Be sure that you follow direction. When you finish, go over the paper. The more you have prepared well, the more confident that you can do your best. After you get your results back, you should use the results as a measure of how much you understand and where you need extra effort. This means you should look over your exam when it is returned, analyze your mistakes, and check with your teacher or text.
So, it’s hardly to success without follow all kinds of procedures and a good study habits that could help you get more done in less time. Set realistic goals because goals are targets toward which you aim.
