The method of characterization was third person omniscient. It was often told in an indirect form when the author would say Luther heard the vehicles enter the front drive on page 11. The author also used direct characterization on page one when he said Luther was a sixty-six-year-old, Luther was eligible to collect Social Security, and he was a card-carrying member of AARP. Both of these ways of characterization were used during the right times of the story and it always seemed to go with the flow of the story. The author also let the character speak for themselves which made me feel that I new the characters better and it made it seem that they were telling me their story. The setting was in the District of Columbia. I think the setting was important in this story because it was about a President that was trying to cover up a murder. I believe that if the story took place any where else it would be hard to follow since the police where always questioning the President. The tone was serious with the murders that took place. I think the theme of the story was to tell the truth and if you do something wrong you should just confess because it could only get worse. I would recommend the book to all of my friends because it had great action and always left me in suspense. I would only recommend this to a mature audience do to its content and it is very descriptive when they killed Christy Sullivan and when they murdered Luther outside the court house. The author was very descriptive during the moments of sexual desire. This book had a lot of vulgar language but most adults would not mind this. I found the language was not a problem nor the grave detail of murder and sex. The author wrote this book very well but it is definite for mature readers. I found this book very enjoyable to read and often found it hard to put down because it was very action packed and faced paced from the beginning to the end. With the problem that our President is having it makes you realize the power that our President has to control a lot of people. So if you like action and suspense this would be a great book to read.
