Driving
Forget everything you know about driving. Listen to the sound of the engine behind you, enjoy the feeling of your body travelling without moving. Look! In front of you, an empty highway, you are facing your future. Four wheels, a steering wheel, a shape made to pierce the air. Cars are all made of the same elements but incarn various personalities. They are your key to the driving experience. Driving is not only the coordination of eyes, feet and hands, it is a complete involvment of your mind and body. That is why driving is so exciting, you are fighting against yourself. The addition of those two parts define the real meaning of driving, become only one.
They seem human, looking at you with two eyes and a heart beating for your pleasure. A mouth open to breathe air and to show their mood. And especially a morphology which reflects their personality. Most of them are fat like those who never practice any sports, that is why sports cars are the most interesting, giving you real pleasure, they have been built to race and express themselves. Those thoroughbred are only waiting you to turn on the key. Without them, driving would not have the same meaning. As a bird who needs lightness to fly gracefully they only carry the bare minimum. Their engines are goldsmith’s art, made of noble materials and the love of the one who put them together. Take place in the Beast and contemplate a place like nowhere else. Everything here is designed for you, the gages are in your field of vision, the steering wheel has a good grip and the gearbox meets perfectly with your hand. Close your eyes, relax, concentrate and now, fire the cavalry , step on the gas pedal and enter another universe rocked by the symphony of all the cylinders.
The interaction of your body and your mind, enable you to drive perfectly. However, your body is only a tool between your mind and the car. While you are negotiating a bend, you are already thinking of what is next. You must be aware of everything, from the bump on your trajectory, to the car in the distance that you will have to overtake. There is no room available in your head for any other thought. You must surround your limits and leave a place for fear which is your survival instinct. Thinking of death can be a path to follow, it makes you feel how weak you are and how humble you should act. Driving is a powerful word, express it to its real meaning. It is not only pressing a gas pedal and turning a steering wheel, it is a science of movement like ballet. The only obstacle you will meet is yourself. So feel free to give the best of you. You are like a brush on a white painting, your inspiration is your only limit, for your own pleasure. When you drive, you touch the clouds, you are in the Spirit of Ecstasy.
By combining yourself and your mount, you will be only one. You are in osmosis with your car when you feel the wind stroking her body even if you are inside. You make her sing louder and louder as she likes it. Being one with a car is as making love to a woman, you have to think at her own pleasure before yours. You have to take her where no one has ever brought her. As a reward she gives you ultimate pleasure. Rythmed by her ripplings, your body is delighted by the physical laws that you cannot encounter elsewhere. Your mind is carried in a part of your brain where you have never been before, where everything is between storm and peacefulness. Your heart beat is in perfect harmony with the rotation of her engine, your blood is circulating in your veins as smoothly as her oil in her valves. Every corner is a waltz, every braking is a new beginning, every straight line is a new pleasure. That is the ultimate driving experience. You are flirting with perfection.
Driving is a passionate relationship between a human being and a piece of metal but it can lead you to unsuspected pleasures. You are not alone when you drive, you are either with the most exquisite angel or with the wildest devil that you have ever met. It reflects your deepest thoughts because you are only competing against yourself. Of course, the car is the mean to reach those thoughts and heighten them but she will only give you hints to solve them. The solution is in you, you might find it around a corner.
