Geography

Angola is located in southern Africa, boarding the South Atlantic Ocean and is between Namibia and Democratic republic of the Congo. The area is 1,246,700sq km. For size comparative Angola is less than twice the size of Texas. For the geographic coordinates they are 12 30 s 18 30 E. The coastline is 1,600km long. The highest point in elevation is Morro de Moco witch is 2,620 miles high.

The population of Angola is 11,177,537. The Capital and its largest city is Luanda witch has 2,000,000 people. Some other large and main cities are Huambo that has 400,000 people and one more main city is Lubango, 105,000. The birth rate is 43.1/1000; infant mortality rate is 129.2/1000; density per sq. mi: 23

The climate in the south and along the coast to Luanda; north has cool but dry seasons. (May to October)

And hot, rainy seasons. (November to April)

Economy

Angola?s per capita is the worlds lowest! Subsistence agriculture provides the main living hood for 85% of Angola?s people. Oil production and the supporting activities are vital to the economy.

Angola?s food must be imported. And its rich resources such as gold, diamonds, extensive forests, Atlantic fisheries, arable land, and large oil deposits. Some of Angola?s industries are petroleum, iron ore, phosphates, feldspar, uranium, and brewing.

Transportation

Angola?s has many highways, which are their main source transportation. All their high ways equal out to 76,626 km long. And their Railroads that they also get around by are equal to 2,952 km long. One more way of getting around for the Angolan people is flying they own 252 airports.

Travel Information for American?s

A visa is requited and must be obtained in advance for travel to Angola. People who do not have a visa are targeted as a criminal and may be arrested. Travelers whose international immunization cards do not show inoculation against yellow fever and cholera will get vaccinations and/ or fines. Medical facilities are virtually non-existent throughout Angola. And Most medicines are not available in Angola eather. If you are caught black-marketing you will also be arrested. Travelers should beware of the bandits and the landmines that are located in Angola.

DRESS CODE

Security
