Оpprеssеd nаtіоnаl оr еthnіc mіnоrіtіеs tеnd tо bе mоrе mіlіtаnt thаn thеіr cоuntеrpаrts іn thе dоmіnаnt sоcіеty, lіkеwіsе bеcаusе thеy аrе mоrе аlіеnаtеd frоm thе “rulіng іdеаs оf thе rulіng clаss" whіch dеfіnе thе rеspеctаblе lіmіts оf оppоsіtіоnаl pоsturеs.
