Should Women Work Outside Home? Essay, Research Paper

Recently, many women are engaged in various kinds of job, and they have been advancing in society. Moreover, it is quite ubiquitous among typical families that a mother works outside the home. In the article ?? Should a Woman Work Outside the Home???, the author Mohammed Akade Osman Sudan argues that a woman??s rightful place in society is in the home. I disagree with the author??s view that women should be confined in the household, and men should work outside; that women work outside the home could exacerbate many problems, which cause pernicious effects on society; and that women too are assaulted by the temptations of the world.

First of all, both men and women should have equal share of their family responsibilities. However, the author states that ?? It is the duty of the man to provide a secure shelter for the woman, and he must also provide for her financially??.Woman, on the other hand, has as her duty to take care of the man and his children within the home.?? In old days, there weren??t many places where women could work outside. However, nowadays, there are vast amounts of places where women can work. In most cases, the wages earned by the man can??t support the entire family; thus, both parents must go to work in order to fulfill and support the family needs. The author also argues that women can??t endure work, which requires physical strength so that they are not suitable for outside work. Nevertheless, when the American men, for example, went to other countries to fight during World War I and II, the women were left alone to provide for their family needs. Women worked very hard support their family by working in the factory for 11 hours a day making war supplies. Because factory work requires physical strength, in my estimation, women have proven that they too can endure manual labor.

Second of all, the author wrongfully blames the women??s work outside the home as the cause deterring men from getting jobs and kids from growing up the right way. The author writes that ?? The men, don??t find jobs because women have taken those jobs.?? In my opinion, the reason they can??t find jobs because is due to their inferior abilities compared to some women; therefore, the blame shouldn??t be placed on all women, and the men should be more competitive. Furthermore, the men should strive not to fall behind the women??s ability. The author also mentions that ?? Children takes the wrong way because they have the feeling that their father and mothers ignore them.?? Working mothers, who are more educated, can assist their children with homework, and talk about world issues. I also think that caring about children doesn??t only mean parents stay with children for long time, but parents also have to help their children when they really need their parents?? help. For instance, my mother has been working in an office since I was a child; however, she has always given me good advice and led me to be a responsible person. Even though I haven??t had much time with my mother, I didn??t take the wrong way because of her advice and care.

Finally, not only women are assailed by the temptations of the world, but men also. The author contend that ?? In the past, when women stayed at home, it was rare that a women committed a serious crime such as robbery or murder, but today it is not so unusual.?? In my opinion, because everyone feels temptations of crimes no matter where they are, it is really up to the man and woman if they overcome those temptations. Moreover, people usually plan and think the crimes when they have nothing to do. For instance, if a woman gets busy and enjoys living with realistic achievements from the work outside the home, she wouldn??t even have time to think about doing crime.

In conclusion, women shouldn??t just be confined in the house to do just the household chores. They should go outside to work and show men what they can contribute to the society and their family. Therefore, working outside home for women should be encouraged and facilitated to every family in the world.
