Из таблицы абсолютно-процентных соотношений структурно-текстовых САФЗЧ следует, что противопоставление практически однородно представлено в британском и американском вариантах английского языка. Неоднородность характеристик наблюдается в использовании повтора, цепочки и горизонтали.
Повтор очень часто используется американскими авторами как основное средство акцентуации отдельных мыслей и идей, причем американские авторы прибегают к повторению как отдельных слов и словосочетаний, так и целых предложений. Несмотря на то, что в британском варианте повтор отдельных слов также очень распространен, авторы не прибегают к нему как к основному средству активизации фоновых знаний читателя. Британские авторы используют также цепочку и горизонталь, излагая события в виде логической цепочки и применяя горизонтальное расширение ряда явлений без углубления мысли. Американские же авторы способу изложения событий в виде логической цепочки или с помощью горизонтального расширения ряда однородных явлений предпочитают представление событийной стороны с обращением к прошлому героев или заглядывая в будущее, а также рассмотрение явлений в их глубине и развитии.
